The silly season of American presidential politics is over and as things calm down, the Republican nominee is back in his comfortable role of Democrat lap dog. The bright side is that “The Maverick” is back in the good graces of the media that temporarily scorned him in favor of “The One.” Therefore the bright side is only a bright side for McCain, his fellow RINOs, and of course the Democrats.

Isn’t it a shame that the media flip-flop-flip on McCain didn’t teach the Republican Party anything. The media migration away from McCain to the complete liberal candidate should serve as a reminder of what will happen when a misguided Republican Party tries to win as just less than Democrat! Of course, we have the “reformers” who will shout “single issue, reach out, er…. moderate, independent, maverick…” and indicate the path to victory is a duplication of McCain’s candidacy only this time with the silencing of all conservative voices.

Oh well, “Mac is back!” and The Washington Obamost is back in his corner:

Two and a half months removed from his defeat in the race for the presidency, colleagues say, McCain bears more resemblance to the unpredictable and frequently bipartisan lawmaker they have served with for decades than the man who ran an often scathing campaign against Barack Obama. In some instances, he’s even carrying water for his former rival.

“Mac is back!” one of his devoted friends in the Senate declared as McCain walked into the chamber Wednesday to deliver his first speech of the 111th Congress: a blunt admonishment of Republicans delaying Hillary Rodham Clinton’s confirmation as secretary of state.

“I remind all my colleagues: We had an election,” McCain noted. “I think the message the American people are sending us now is they want us to work together, and get to work.”

“He’s even carrying water for his former rival.” Even? This is classical McCain! This is what the man does. This is what the so-called “independents” who voted in open primaries, Mike Huckabee, Charlie Crist, and lite-Democrats who call themselves Republicans foisted upon the party.

Is Hillary Clinton beyond reproach? Has there ever been cause to question potential conflicts of interest that may exist regarding the accused rapist’s foreign donors and what favors they might expect? No, of course not! Now we must take note of the importance of having a Secretary Of State at times like these and we can’t get caught up fretting over the quality of the nominee. The work of the secretary is so important that we should not be concerned about who carries it out. Makes sense… if you are a “maverick” RINO that needs to retake his place on the lead Democrat’s lap!

Shailagh Murray’s gripping re-embrace of “The Maverick” continues:

“I think that’s indicative of the role that John McCain is going to play,” said Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine), who hatched the push-back against Cornyn’s gambit over dinner with McCain on Tuesday night, and who followed him to the floor to support Clinton’s confirmation. “He’s going to play a very active role. He’s going to try to forge bipartisan coalitions. And he won’t shy away from controversy.”

And he continues to march to his own tune. Yesterday, McCain applauded Obama’s executive order to close the U.S. military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, within a year, but he said that Obama had failed to address key issues, including the fate of the detainees being held there. He voted this month against releasing $350 billion in additional money to bail out the financial sector, even after Obama trekked to the Capitol to lobby for the aid. McCain had supported the original bailout bill when it came before Congress last fall, during the heat of the presidential campaign.

Well as long as fellow RINO Susan Collins is happy, conservatives should follow Lindsey Graham’s amnesty advice and “just shut up!” At least McCain is voting against the bailout after he voted for it. I suppose he can afford a little principle now that he paid his tab by ensuring that Barack Obama occupied the fictional Office Of The President-elect. Oh and exactly where the terrorists in Gitmo will be released can be dealt with sometime after the glow of the Obamasm wears off. For now, the maverick applauds the former occupant of the fictional Office Of The President-elect and his decision to weaken our security. Security must be nothing more than partisan bickering.

Bipartisanship should not be a goal, but a tool. Further, bipartisanship should only be employed when it does not violate core principles and should be avoided when it means catering to the wrong side of an issue. John McCain should be held as a shining example as we move forward. We have his history and his farcical presidential run to guide us if we are wise enough to pay attention! We should now know what not to do.

We need a strong voice for conservative values, but it is just as important that the voice comes from a body that truly believes in and practices those principles. The question as to whether or not the Republican Party will ever be willing to differentiate itself from the Democrat Party is even cloudier now than before November’s fiasco. Will the RINOs (so-called “reformers”) be purged from positions of leadership with a much needed enema or will people with principles eventually have to look elsewhere?

While we struggle to decide if the Republican Party is salvageable, I welcome suggestions as to what an average person can do to make a difference and lend volume to the voice we seek. As for my suggestions, I think joining groups and networking can’t hurt so here are some links to consider:

Restore Our American Republic – www.roar-usa.com

Illinois Center Right Coalition – www.illinoiscenterright.com

One Million Conservatives – www.onemillionconservatives.org

Let’s Get This Right – www.letsgetthisright.com

We The People USA – www.wethepeopleusa.ning.com

I firmly believe that an individual can make a difference, which is why I despise those who cry like spoiled children when conservatives dare to take issue with a fellow “Republican.” We can do something and get started by doing almost anything (talking, writing, networking, campaigning, voting… educating our children) … or we could sit by and try to find humor in the next farce dressed up as a Republican presidential candidate.

Prostitution isn’t just for Nevada anymore and this high-priced hooker leaves Elliot Spitzer’s flesh merchant in the dust! Hillary Clinton likely sets the record for most expensive (un-) happy hooker in history. $10 million is a lot of money, but Barry doesn’t have to pay the price for his pleasure, himself. On the contrary, he has asked his “big donors” to foot the bill ( or is it Bill) at the Clinton Cat House.

From Reuters:

Clinton introduced Obama to her top fundraisers at a private meeting in Washington on Thursday night. Obama already had asked his big donors to help her pay off more than $10 million she owes to campaign debtors.

It is hard to believe that the dope of hope, the second coming, is dumb enough to believe he can buy the Clintons for $10 million. It is possible that this “trick” will be enough to help the political whore overcome her sense of entitlement to the highest office in the land… but I doubt it. Most likely, the Capitol Hill Call Girl won’t take this lying down. Hillary will accept the debt alleviating donations, say the required lines, and give the robotic smile, but what will her underlings do?

A person would have to be extremely trusting to believe that the wife of The Rapist would be content to let her entitled throne pass her by. Hilly didn’t “stand by her man” for nothing! The presidency is her destiny and I believe she will attempt to snatch it by “hook” or by crook.

I am hard on John McCain because I have very little confidence in the man who would have considered being John Kerry’s running mate and has fought hard over the years to hamper liberty and harm our sovereignty. Today I will give the man who would be president some credit. Senator McCain has, to this point not supported a measure to nationalize reinsurance for catastrophic storm damage. This bill which passed the House and is now in committee in the Senate is named to sell, the “Homeowner Defense Act of 2007” (H.R. 3355, S. 2310.)

Drudge has a link to a Wall Street Journal article by Elizabeth Williamson, “Taxpayers May Face Hurricane Tab.”

WASHINGTON — As hurricane season begins, Democrats in Congress want to nationalize a chunk of the insurance business that covers major storm-damage claims.

The proposal — backed by giant insurers Allstate Corp. and State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Co., as well as Florida lawmakers — focuses on “reinsurance,” the policies bought by insurers themselves to protect against catastrophic losses. The proposal envisions a taxpayer-financed reinsurance program covering all 50 states, which would essentially backstop the giant insurers in case of disaster.

The program could save homeowners roughly $500 apiece in annual premiums in Florida, according to an advocacy group backed by Allstate and State Farm, the largest writers of property insurance in the U.S.

Please don’t think the Dems, the major insurers, and Florida Governor “Crispy” Crist want the United States taxpayer to open their wallets without limits. On the contrary, the libiots in the House are looking out for us in Title III, Sec. 304:

(Sec. 304) Sets the maximum aggregate potential federal liability for payment of claims under all reinsurance contracts sold in any single year at $200 billion, or such lesser amount as the Secretary determines based on review of the reinsurance market.

The article indicated that the blatant Socialist presidential candidates, Barry Obama and the wife of The Rapist, support this plan. One is left to wonder if they realize that there is a limit to taxpayer liability for the decisions of others. Perhaps Barry and Hill will take what redistribution they can get, even if it isn’t entirely up to their desire for complete nationalization of property (and all other forms of) insurance. Nikita Kruschev would certainly approve of this piecemeal approach.

"We can’t expect the American People to jump from
