If there is a silver lining for the citizens of Illinois in the wake of the national tragedy that struck on November 4, 2008, it is that (temporarily) we no longer have two despicable excuses for United States Senators. I realize that our governor will do his best (what normal people would refer to as worst) to replace Grand Chancellor Elect Barack “Born Alive, Let Them Die” Obama with someone who will rival Detestable Dick Durbin in libiot legislative carnage, but for now I choose to look at the bright side.

Illinois no longer has a senator that began his political climb by kissing the ring of domestic terrorist William Ayers, who coincidentally is having his book re-released. Isn’t it sweet that in addition to having access to the minds of the students whose parents send to U of I Chicago, this festering sore on the face of humanity is going to profit from the election of Obama. Is that what they mean by historic, for the first time in our history a presidential election serves as a relaunch for the memoirs of a terrorist? Is it safe to assume that even though Barack Obama will be the main selling point for new copies of the terrorist’s narcissistic writings, that he will not receive a share of the royalties? Perhaps in the name of spreading the wealth around, Obama’s rightful share can be donated to ACORN for the purposes of corpse registering.

We are now free to move beyond the embarrassment of having elected Barack Obama as our senator. Unfortunately, Illinois’ gain is the nation’s loss. I wonder if Tony Rezko can get a hold of any property adjacent to The White House in case the Obama’s want to increase the size of their new yard. Can one purchase property while in prison or would “Big Brother” Barry have to pardon Rezko in order to get the good deal?

As I have written previously, we in Illinois can also hope that the Grand Chancellor Elect will help clean up our state. Again, this clean up would be only temporary (four or God forbid, eight years) and come at great cost to the nation as a whole. This particular clean up would involve draining the cesspool that spawns Illinois (Chicago) Democrat politicians and transplanting them in Washington D.C. If this is to happen, perhaps he can drain Madison County’s cesspool as well. Can we hope that Governor Blagojevich is refraining from appointing himself as Obama’s successor in order to make himself available for a cabinet position? It would be a bad deal for The United States of America… but Illinois would be rid of another embarrassment.

The Obama’s will have to find a church in the D.C. area to attend, at least for the next four years since after the 2012 election he can drop what I believe is a pretense of faith for the purpose of political gain. The Grand Chancellor Elect is fortunate that he will only have four years in his new church so if the pastor spews the same sort of hate as his former pastor, his denials of having ever heard any of it will be more plausible. After all, four years of attending a church and not hearing the sermons is more believable than twenty plus years of the same, is it not? We can hope his new pastor will not utter the words, “God damn America!

It is a beautiful, cool Autumn day here in Southern Illinois. It is the kind of day that is conducive to feeling good and optimistic. I am trying to take advantage of the nice day to briefly reflect on the type of U.S. Senator that should replace Grand Chancellor Elect Obama. CNNPolitics.com has a piece that at least partially displays the model I would prefer Governor Blagojevich follow when making his upcoming decision.

MYRTLE BEACH, South Carolina (CNN) – South Carolina Sen. Jim DeMint on Friday became one of the first high-profile Republicans to publicly criticize John McCain following his electoral defeat, blaming the Arizona senator for betraying conservative principles in his quest for the White House.

The conservative senator, speaking to a group of GOP officials gathered in Myrtle Beach at a conference on the future of the Republican Party, described how the party had strayed from its own “brand,” which, according to DeMint, should represent freedom, religious-based values and limited government.

“We have to be honest, and there’s a lot of blame to go around, but I have to mention George Bush, and I have to mention Ted Stevens, and I’m afraid I even have to mention John McCain,” he said.

DeMint offered a long list of complaints about McCain’s record in the Senate and on the campaign trail.

I realize how unlikely it is that Gov. Rod Blagojevich would extract his head from it’s dark and foul smelling normal resting place and appoint someone like Jim DeMint to the Senate. As I stated previously, it is the kind of day that is conducive to dreaming and didn’t Obama, himself campaign on “hope?” Perhaps a political miracle will be performed and our governor will do the right thing for once. In the spirit of hope and dreams I offer the following as a suggestion for the governor’s consideration:

My, aren’t we testy these days? You sound like a spoiled little child who didn’t get his way. Why don’t you, Rush and your other right-wing friends go back to the holes you crawled out of?

  3.    sepierce on November 16, 2008 8:59 pm

    Lance,

I’m not testy. I’m celebrating the fact that we temporarily don’t have two Socialist senators doing damage, supposedly on behalf of our state.

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the coming Obamanation.

Hmmm. I thought I’d get a bigger rise out of you than I did. I must be losing my touch.

I would like to point out that there’s a significant difference between Liberalism and Socialism, though the nuances might escape some.

You cannot deny that there is a terrible disparity in the distribution of wealth in this country. The U.S. is atypical with other countries in that this inequality not only exists at a higher percentage but has risen sharply over the past few years. The rich are getting richer and the middle class and below are getting poorer. The top 5 percent own more than half of all the wealth. As has been demonstrated over and over, inequality is harmful to the well-being of a society. We are reaping the fruits of that inequality now. Is this kind of disparity a desirable feature of a democracy? I think not.

I am a little concerned, too, of the country becoming too socialistic. But Obama is a Liberal, not a Socialist. There is a difference. Socialism attempts to bring down the pre-eminence of the individual; Liberalism seeks to build up a minimum standard for the masses and raise up poverty. Socialism destroys private interests and kills enterprise. Liberalism preserves private interests and would rescue enterprise from the bonds of privilege and preference.

So you believe that liberals are simply stupid? (My synopsis of your last paragraph.) Ever hear of a slippery slope? Ever consider that things work the way they work and no amount of false tinkering by “liberals” can change the way some things either work or do not work? Just because you would like to give every homeless person money to go to school, doesn’t mean every homeless person would spend that money on an education.

Tell you what, how about you raise the minimum wage again? Disregard the accompanying price increases and job loss, because after all, we are in liberal land! In this Utopia nothing is expected to follow natural law.

I think Lance nailed it–although I am sure it was unintentional. Liberalism does indeed “raise up poverty.” By trying to ensure equality of outcome rather than equality of opportunity, Liberals seek to force us all into the lowest common denominator. Poverty is then able to creep upwards as success is punished and failure is rewarded. I really don’t see the difference between liberalism and socialism when it comes to “bringing down the preeminince of the individual.” According to candidate Obama, he only plans to preserve private interests to a point: up to $250,000, or $200,000 or $150,000 or $130,000 depending on which iteration of the Obama policy you believe he will put into place as President. After you (or your family–again it depends on the speech) reach that magic number, presto, you’re rich and it’s your patriotic duty to allow the government to spread your wealth. Enterprise is freed from the bonds of risk and rewards, and we’re right back there at socialism.

Out off the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. You are vile and evil. Republicans just lost we have to get our selves together and putting President-elect Obama will not work. Americans are in love with. So concentrate on us instead of tearing down our new president because it makes you and us look small.

Truly there was not a conservative candidate to elect for office on election day. Both candidates represented something different and the same. I wanted McCain to win because, to me, he seemed the lesser of two evils. Then I first heard the debates on the radio and it sounded like McCain Was doing exceptional, But later that night I watched them. It became clear to me that McCain lost and looked just antsy. I don’t want either candidate as president unfortunately. Yet, Obama will become president. I once got in trouble because I was with some friends who got in trouble even though i did not commit the crime i was indeed guilty by association. I cannot fathom anyone who would attend a church for 20 years and not be indoctrinated on anything less than 75% of the issues. President-elect Obama scares me. He doesn’t bring stability to the situation, of the economy or of the trust in Americans towards the government. Since his victory on election day the DOW has fallen another 1500 points. Yet he still wants to spread what little wealth there is around. How is this fair? 40% of the population didn’t file an income tax yet they will receive a check from Obama. What incentive would I have to get off of welfare, If i were on it. When did the framers truly mean when they included promote the general Welfare, into the preamble. I don’t believe they meant handouts. Webster definition for promote include:To raise to a more important or responsible job or rank,(Does giving someone money raise them to a more important or responsible job or rank?)To advance (a student) to the next higher grade,(would you advance a student who made a 19 as a class average)To contribute to the progress or growth of; further. (How many of you have given money to a friend who cant pay their rent, only to watch them go buy cigarettes with it. *Cant pay rent but they sure are smoking like a freight train* This type of thought is just plain wrong Obama, and it discourages the entrepreneurial spirit that drives America. I know i am one of those entrepreneurs. Even though i do not make 130,000 or even 250,000 I know that I don’t want my government to tell me where I can and cant spend my money, it simply is not their job( they cant even tell the money that is given now, where to go hence the 10,000,000,000 deficit.)

You’re right Brian except you forgot some 0’s. Im pretty sure its $10,000,000,000,000 deficit.

Boy, it’s tough when you don’t have a candidate that represents you. Now white, racist, women-hating, “conservative” boys can join the ranks of the disenfranchised. How does it feel?

  12.    sepierce on November 19, 2008 8:39 pm

I’m white and conservative, but it seems that the liberals have the racist and woman-hating market cornered.

    Sam,

Feel bad for ya dude. Not only did you and the other couple of ditto heads keep drinking the kool-aid until the end, but some of you still are. Theirs no helping those who don’t want help as they say. Now you not only have to live with the outcome of a better tomorrow and be proven wrong once again as things eventually improve after Jan 20th, but you also are probably looking on Monster for a new job as the policies of deregualtion and greed have taken their toll on your industry. I do feel bad for ya man. Health inbsurance is expensive and jobs for auto industry equipment engineers are going to be scarce. Maybe you can get a ride on one of those corporate jets quick before they put them on e-bay. Seriously, COBRA doesn’t last long, and I’m sure knowing your views you won’t apply for unemployment, or healthcare state aid for those five wonderfull daughters. Still you eat thier dog food. Good luck to ya. You do have the CNA thing to fall back on though

  14.    sepierce on November 19, 2008 8:59 pm

    Moron,

You should feel bad for me. I have people that give the impression that they are going away and then they come back. What’s worse, when they come back, they use words like “dude.” Worse yet, they confuse my two sons for daughters.

Deregulation, no, but you are on to something with the greed of the UAW and the politicians that cater to the enviro-nuts.

  15.    Roger E on November 20, 2008 1:55 am

    Morass,

(Look it up, wouldn’t expect you to know off hand)

You love to throw out insults when you get into dialog over your head. As for dude; just thought I’d try and use some of your young “hip” lingo. You get the point dont you? Learn somthing and then speak. So what’ch gonna do? You and your tribe (boy’s or girls, really relevant to the topic man, got me there) are in serious trouble. I was checking in to see how you were taking it, being so wrong about everything and all. You still think that we should let these ego maniacs run loose? Jsut imagine; we continue to go our own way, to let nobody in on what really is hapinging in the banks, in the corporations, no transparancy and no oversight. The worl looses complete confidence in our system. The dollar is to volitile and ceases to be the currency of the world. Foriegn investors pull their money out of our markets. I live in the mountains. I have a well and generator. I have defenseive capabilities. I can hunt, grow and can. I have Wilderness first aid responder training, a nurse for a wife, six months rations and a water filtration and ionization purification system. You are doing what to prepare for the doom you foretell? Writing a little blog. Who’s the moran?

Sammy you are in need of help.

  16.    sepierce on November 20, 2008 1:05 pm

Behold, there is a voice from upon the mountain. The voice rings out and pierces the shield of reason. The voice from Mount Rog-more loudly proclaims that all should bow to Roger The Impotent.

The voice of his royal Rog-ness will instruct those that hear it in his own personal greatness. Further, the voice will expound upon the assumptions made somewhere deep in the outbound plumbing of his mountain “throne.” We shall know that we heard the voice and we shall know that what we heard blongs in a waste treatment facility.

Let it be known that Roger Almighty henceforth has the ability to avoid “little blogs” that bother his delicate ego.
