Apparently William Ayers past is immaterial, even though as recently as last year he expressed no remorse for his participation in the infamous Weather Underground bombings. If our nation is ready to hand the presidency to a radical leftist, why not take the logical step of at least expecting Barack Obama to consider his former Chicago Annenberg Challenge mate William Ayers for the post of Secretary of Education? While we are suggesting cabinet members, let’s also consider:

  • Secretary Of Treasury - William “Cold Cash” Jefferson
  • HUD Secretary - Tony Rezko (following presidential pardon)
  • Health and Human Services - Kathleen Sebelius (Under Secretary - Michael Moore)
  • Secretary of Peace (replacement for Defense) - Dennis Kucinich
  • Secretary of State - George Clooney
  • Homeland Security - Susan Sarandon

**Updated thanks to George’s reminder of a couple of Obammunist departments I missed (From Let Them Eat Cake):

  • Department Of Climate Change - Al Gore (Under Sec. Sheryl “One Square” Crow)
  • Department Of Service - Rod Blagojevich?

Back to education, which in addition to plotting and executing bombings, is Bill Ayers area of expertise. Of course we are not talking about the type of boring traditional education one might expect for his or her child. Ayers is an education reformer… or radical as Sol Stern wrote in The City Journal:

Chicago’s liberals have chosen to define deviancy down in Ayers’s case, and Obama can’t be blamed for that.

What he can be blamed for is not acknowledging that his neighbor has a political agenda that, if successful, would make it impossible to lift academic achievement for disadvantaged children. As I have shown elsewhere in City Journal, Ayers’s politics have hardly changed since his Weatherman days. He still boasts about working full-time to bring down American capitalism and imperialism. This time, however, he does it from his tenured perch as Distinguished Professor of Education at the University of Illinois, Chicago. Instead of planting bombs in public buildings, Ayers now works to indoctrinate America’s future teachers in the revolutionary cause, urging them to pass on the lessons to their public school students.

Teaching For Social Justice” sounds like a noble title for a book edited by a terrorist and his “education reforming” colleagues. It leads me to wonder if a Secretary of Education Ayers would work to remake the bulk of the nations public schools in the mold of Social Justice High School, an institution in Chicago on whose “About Us” web page includes:

Critical Knowledge:

To Our Students

  • We will use math, science, english and history classes to equip our students with the analytical tools to investigate the injustices around us.
  • Culture, ethnic identity and language will be valued and used for relevant learning.
  • Social justice issues of race, equity, peace, gender, and the environment will help us address the real life needs that impact our kids and of our communities.
  • We must also understand our youth, their struggles, their identity, the way they learn and their pain if we want them to be come powerful change agents of our society.

Barack Obama must share some of these teaching for social justice ideals, otherwise his being the former head of the board of Chicago Annenberg Challenge would not make sense. That is, unless a cynical aspiring politician simply thought this was the path of least resistance or expedience.

It is almost funny the way Barack Obama complains about “divisiveness.” This indoctrination in the name of “social justice” is divisive. In fact, like Obama’s healthcare plan (which will be reviewed in the coming days) this type of “education” appears focused on creating a victim mindset and highlighting perceived race, gender, and ethnic disparities.

I suppose if Barack Obama is the candidate of choice for noted “Team America: World Police” character, “Matt Damon,” he should be accepted by all… our future be damned.

    Debbie,

Sorry for the sickening suggestions. I hope none of these things ever come close to being realized.

    George,

Thanks for the reminder. I have updated my list to reflect the departments you mentioned.

I am afraid (and I mean that in the literal sense) you may be right. If the names aren’t exactly right, the philosophy of the candidate and his likely appointees is dead on. I have been struck for a long time by the complete absence of any normal, middle (or even upper) class, patriotic Americans in the list of “Friends of Barack Obama.” No one is coming forward and saying “I know Barack Obama and he’s a great guy, he did XYZ for my community as an organizer and I’m proud to support him.” Every associate, from his childhood mentor and his wife to his pastor and his neighbor, should be extremely disturbing to the average American. I suppose it’s also disturbing that more people aren’t worried about this guy!

I have to agree, if any of Obama’s “friends” get appointed anywhere, that in itself would be terrifying! However, don’t lose focus as to what it would be like if Obama even got elected! Hey, if he has terrorists for neighbors, I wouldn’t even want him in my neighborhood!

[...] How About Secretary Of Education Ayers? [...]

  8.    Sarah on October 12, 2008 12:35 am

Why would you think he would put all those celebrities in office? Even suggesting that is childish.
And who cares that an all american (wealthy) family hasn’t come out to claim to be best friends with Obama ? This is a presidential election we need to focus on bigger issues than this that. Keep yourself informed on real issues and not this fairy dust popularity contest that seems to be the topic of this blog.

    Sarah,

I wrote the list in hopes of attracting a comment such as yours that would prove a point. The point, of course, being that Obama supporters are humorless and use the word “issues” despite the fact that any scrutiny of the “issues” would preclude a reasonable person from voting for their candidate.

This election and Obama’s lead in the polls can be described by your own words: “fairy dust popularity contest.” If this is not the case, then something far more sinister is being carried out on the American people.

    Sam,

Not your best writing or for that matter its seems a bit like one of Plain’s ramblings. I know you can do better than that.

“Secretary of Education Ayers” is indeed a scary thought, but not even close to any kind of real world possibility. Again, better lay off that “Fairy Dust”. A very real and frightening possibility though would be Secretary of the Treasury Phil Gramm. I think he is now in CNN’s most wanted list of the 10 top culprits behind this financial debacle. Remember him? I explained earlier how while a senator he coauthored a bill with two other GOP comrades in 1999 that allowed the grouping of mortgages into securities, and then left the senate to lobby for the world largest banks to get the “self regulation” and “opt in” bill passed in 2004 along with Secretary Paulson the then head of Goldman Sachs. Yes that is the one and the same Gramm who was running McCains campaign until he said the economy is sound and we Americans are “a bunch of whiners” a couple of months ago. Even though McCain had to let him go after that, he is suggested by the campaign as a possible Treasury Secretary and just this week helped McCain slap tougher his latest economic “plan” But by all means please send me some of that fairy dust you are smoking.

    Roger,

Thank you for your attempt to act as English Comp teacher. I enjoyed this piece and that is good enough for me.

At this point, it doesn’t matter who McCain would appoint as treasury secretary. What matters is that a majority of voters (legal and illegal) might be stupid enough to vote for Barack Obama! This terrifying possibility means that the lesser of two evils gets my support.

Tell me Roger, just how is increased job loss good for this nation? How can a man who has chosen to align himself closely with those that hate this country and work to radicalize our children be trusted with the presidency? If you think things are so great in Venezuala, why not just emigrate to the apple of your socialist eye and stop aiding in the destruction of this nation?

  12.    Roger E on October 18, 2008 11:53 pm

You took the questions right out of my mouth. I was hoping you would answer them instead of doing the “I know you are but what am I’ kids game.

  13.    sepierce on October 19, 2008 7:26 am

I’ll answer. In my opinion, increased job loss is not good for this nation. I don’t believe a massive welfare state is good for this nation. Therefore I don’t believe Barack Obama’s Marxist intentions and the possibly unintended consequences of his policies will be good for this nation.

Perhaps we have sunk so low into the pit that we have to hit bottom before enough people will realize that our nation has been destroyed (as is evident in Obama’s lead in the polls.)

I kind of responded to this line of though on the other thread.
